Academics FAQs

QSI provides students with various methods to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge. In some situations, the students will need more time or a different approach to learning the material. In some schools, students have one opportunity to learn the concept and must move on to the new topic regardless of how well they learned. Mastery learning provides students with the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge that is outlined in the curriculum.

Students at QSI will not only learn the academic content, but they will also gain more confidence in their individual learning process. Students will discover how to overcome any academic obstacles with the support of the teacher. Their personal strengths in studying will flourish and result in a greater self-assurance in studying. 

The school sends home 5 academic reports during the year; these are called Status Reports. It is important to know that these reports are not limited to being shared 5 times a year. At any time, a parent can ask for an updated Status Report. Your child’s academic progress is not limited to “time”; the Status Report is fluid and is updated weekly. 

Three times a year, narrative reports are issued.  These are detailed descriptions of your child's progress in each subject matter.

Finally, conferences are held three times a year.  One of these conferences is student-led.

QSI International School of Münster believes that the best way to support a child’s education is the relationship between parent and teachers. A parent can request a meeting with a teacher to review and discuss any aspect of their child’s status report The school sends a weekly schoolwide newsletter, and teachers communicate via email and newsletter to parents.

QSI is committed in educating children in academics and life skills. The combination of these two areas is referred to as teaching the “whole child”. The life skills students need are bundled in QSI’s 7 Success Orientations. In order for students to be successful in life, they need to possess the following characteristics: Responsibility, Kindness & Politeness, Independent Endeavor, Group Interaction, Aesthetic Appreciation, Concern for Others, and Trustworthiness.

The QSI diploma is designed to prepare students to apply to colleges and universities. The QSI diploma is accredited by MSA. Students can directly apply to a variety of North American universities. For universities outside North America, students will be prepared for other English-speaking universities in other countries.
