Kaitlin Eckart
This is going to be my 8th year and my third school with QSI and my 13th year in education overall. After teaching kindergarten in North Carolina, I moved abroad with QSI teaching kindergarten and elementary age in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. After moving to Shenzhen, I eventually switched to administration as Director of Instruction for the Upper Elementary and Middle School division.
As a passionate educator, it is my vision to bridge cultural differences and create warm, nourishing environments for both students and staff. In pursuit of this vision, I have created new programs, such as additional language and music offers, and took the lead on renovation projects that offered better spaces for staff and students.
My vision for QSI Münster is to strengthen the ties with the community and to expand the school's offerings to further improve educational quality. I look forward to pursuing this vision together with you!

Mrs. Marry Dijkman
My name is Marry Dijkman-Bauer. I grew up in the Netherlands, in a small town called Dokkum, where I had a wonderful and happy childhood. Once I had to decide what career path I wanted to take, I was set to become an educator. A decision that I never regretted. I just love my job!
When I was studying in the ’80s, I got the opportunity to get specialized in teaching young elementary students. Since working with younger groups was very close to my heart, I chose to head in that direction. After getting my teaching degree, I was lucky to find a job right away. Since I was passionate about diversity and inclusion, and because I had then only just left school, I opted to continue studying next to work with a special needs education course, for which I got my certificate two years later.
Over the years, I had the opportunity to work in several schools, in several cities, in several countries, and I am very thankful for that. I think this is my 24th year of teaching! I can hardly believe it, but time flies if you do what you love. This is my 6th year at QSI in Münster. I am very grateful to work in an international setting, which is something very special! Working with the little world citizens is a true joy!

Mr. Octavio Perez
My name is Octavio Xavier Perez and I grew up in the Central Valley of California, then moved north to the Redwood Coast for university. After getting my bachelor’s degree, I moved to Münster for my M.A. and that is when I discovered QSI. I was a volunteer and an intern for two school years and I loved the experience. When I completed my M.A., I was lucky that QSI needed a teacher, and I was ready to teach full time!
My teaching philosophy is that learning is a lifelong process, and that we all have the capabilities to explore and learn about the unknown. My primary goal isn’t to teach concepts as separate entities, it’s to give students the tools and knowledge they need to learn or critically think about anything they could ever think of!
Outside of teaching, I love playing music, hiking, biking, building or crafting, and playing games.

Ms. Mirela Muschiol
My name is Mirela Muschiol. I am the German teacher for all of the classes at QSI Münster as well as the 12 and 13 YO Mathematics. I was born in Racibórz, a small city in the South of Poland next to the Czech Republic border. Being raised and surrounded by a lot of dialects and languages instilled in me a passion for interpersonal and multicultural communication.
After finishing my Bachelor studies in German language and getting my teacher’s degree at the University of Wroclaw; I moved to Germany to study Communication; Politics and Social Science at the University of Münster.
In addition to following the political events of what is happening in the world and the great fascination with the history of mankind, I spend my free time on my bike in Münsterland or hiking in the mountains.
QSI Münster makes it possible for me to do what I love: teach students how to communicate in a new language and help them to find themselves in a new country and culture.Through organizing and preparing students for MUN in the past years has helped me to improve my knowledge and interests in political science. I am so proud to be a part of our small international community in Münster and to help the students on their way to success.

Olena Petrenko-Agdi
My name is Olena Petrenko-Agdi. I grew up in a small town in the Northern Ukraine. After getting my master's degree, I taught English as a foreign language in a public school for three years. My desire and love to learning brought me to the capital of Ukraine. At the age of 28, I got my Ph.D. in Education from the Kyiv State Linguistic University..
Over the years of teaching, I had great opportunities to work in public and private schools and universities. I was with QSI ( Kyiv International School) for 30 years.
In March 2022, my family moved to Germany. I was fortunate that the QSI school in Münster had a teaching position. I have been always enjoying working with children, teaching them, and learning from them.
I am excited and looking forward to starting the new school year. The most important thing for me is the students' desire to learn new things and explore the world. I want to assure you that I will try my best to help your children grow academically, socially, and emotionally and make this year a valuable, productive, and successful experience for you children.
Qualifications and Training:
Bachelor's & Master's degree in English

Mr. Julian Fahl
This school, like our wonderful city, is bustling with excitement and places waiting to be discovered! It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your child's teacher in one of the following courses: Modern World History, American Literature, Secondary Literature & Writing, Research Project, Middle School Cultural Studies, and Middle School Art & Music. I am highly motivated and honored to continue working at QSI Münster during my fourth year amongst such a talented and international team, implementing our extensive curriculum in order to provide a rigorous, caring, and exciting learning atmosphere for all.
Like many students in this school, I am the product of an international upbringing, education, and mindset. I was at a similar age when I first left Germany for the United States, and like them, I grew up amidst a multitude of cultures, languages, and locations. Through this memorable experience, I fell in love with learning, languages, and intercultural exchange, and, therefore am determined to pursue an education with the goal of understanding others, and bringing people closer together through the wonderful tool of learning. I firmly believe that we benefit from two educations in our lives: the one that we attain in school and the one that we receive from those who surround us. With that said, I am honored to play a small role in the journey of your child.

Kim van Driel
My name is Kim van Driel. I grew up in the Netherlands and moved out to see the world as soon as I could. I worked as an AuPair in America and England. This is where I decided I wanted to continue working with kids and wanted to really study the English language better, so when I returned to the Netherlands I decided to get my Bachelor of Education in English.
I have been teaching since 2009 and have taught many different students and levels. During these years, I have been fortunate to be part of some wonderful projects, lead an amazing project on 'Diversity and inclusion in the Classroom' and 'Flipping the Classroom', and follow some great trainings and courses.
When we came to Muenster, I joined helping out with Middle School and Intensive English, which I have loved doing. After two years, I am now moving to teach the 9 and 10 year old class. This is a new chapter in my teaching carreer and I am very excited to start another year with some new and old faces and help these kids grow!

B.A. of Education: Teacher Education in English, HAN Nijmegen (Netherlands)
Teaching Certification in English Language Arts, HAN Nijmegen (Netherlands)
Rudolf Arling
My name is Rudolf Owen Arling and am, as I would put it, a Münster-born English-speaking internationalist. I believe it was a rather natural choice for me to follow a long-standing family tradition and pursue a course of studies setting me up to become a teacher of English and Philosophy with an additional full master’s degree in philosophy (both from the University of Münster, with an academic year spent at the College of William and Mary, VA).
As regards my teaching philosophy, I believe it is best summed up in a quote commonly ascribed to Irish poet W. B. Yeats: “Education is not the Filling of a Pail, but the Lighting of a Fire.” Setting aside any scholarly debates about the authenticity of this quote, I believe it speaks to an essential requirement for modern global citizens. Only by pointing learners in the direction of becoming alert and knowledgeable, will we be able to master the challenges facing us as a species.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my kids and pursuing varied cultural activities such as playing music (bass guitar) and games (face-to-face more than digital, all levels of geekiness;-)
Qualifications and Training:
Bachelor's degree in English and Philosophy, University of Muenster
Master's degree in Philosophy, University of Muenster
